You've just reached HITS home on the web. Skating at the Sugar Land Ice and Sports Complex, HITS is a junior level Theater on Ice (TOI) team. Theater on Ice is a form of competitive figure skating that combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theater and dance. Featuring skaters ranging in ages from 8 to 18, HITS has been competing since 2003 in national level Theatre on Ice competitions. Under the direction of their highly skilled and decorated coaches, the HITS team has medaled in every competition they have entered since the team's inception.
HITS most recent competition was at the 2011 Nations Cup and US Nationals Theater on Ice Competition held April 6-9 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The 2nd Annual Nations Cup was an especially exciting competition for HITS as the competition featured 579 skaters on 29 teams from 6 countries including the United States, France, Russia, Spain, Ukraine and Australia. Immediately after the Nation Cup, the US Nationals competions started featuring 34 teams from 13 states, setting a record for number of teams for the second year in a row.
HITS continued their winning tradition, taking a silver medal in the Nationals for combined Junior Freeskate and Choregraphic Exerecise. The HITS silver medal in the Nationals competition puts them on the path to earn a spot to compete in the Third Annual Nations Cup which will be hosted in Barcelona Spain in 2013.
With the 2011 Nations Cup and Nationals, HITS closes another productive season. We'd especially like to thank the Yarmouth Ice Club, the staff at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center, the Hyannis Chamber of Commerce for making this year's event one of the best yet.
HITS takes great pride in representing US Figure Skating and we thank USFSA for the support and work they put into making Theater on Ice a success.
